Beanie Tools and Frog Aid

Throughout his career Steven has consistently made his own forging and shoemaking tools which has developed his interest in designing his own. Beanie Tools was launched in 2013 and the range continues to expand and evolve in response to demand.  Innovation is at the heart of this extensive range of tools, driven by a desire to produce great quality products that make every day work easier.

Frog Aid was born from a desire to aid and assist those that suffer from laminitis to provide immediate relief and to optimise prognosis.

Steven is proud that 95% of Beanie Tools production is based within his home county in Yorkshire and the business is very much family-orientated. Steven's father alongside Kat, look over the administration of the shoeing business and tool business on a daily basis.

Farriery is at the heart of Steven’s life and he is both honoured and privileged to represent Heller rasps. He regularly undertakes many clinics worldwide for both Beanie Tools and Heller rasps.

Kathrine Beane

  • Kathrine’s farrier journey started when she was 18 years old, as the laws are different in Canada compared to the UK, Kathrine began her apprenticeship with a local farrier right away. She moved through the province of Quebec quite a bit which allowed her to work with many different mentors through out the years until she started her own business mostly shoeing western riding horses.

Kathrine has always been very invested in the Quebec Farrier Association, by volunteering at events, participating to many clinics, and being a member of the association’s committee for 4 years. In 2022 she took over the task of organising the Quebec farrier’s shoeing and forging contest, The Master’s Cup, rounding up the most competitors the competition had received so far.

  • The numbers of the Masters Cup keep growing constantly. Kat was awarded the Pierre Beaudoin trophy in 2022 at the AMFQ convention for outstanding devotion to the farrier community as well as the Jim Smith award from the Ontario Farriers association for outstanding commitment to education and furthering the industry’s excellence.

Kat and Steven met at the Ontario Horseshoeing Classic and Convention in 2022. They have both travelled back and forth to Canada and the UK many times, meeting either at Farrier contests or for holidays until 2024 when Kat decided to move to Yorkshire and start a new life with Steven. A couple months after the big move, Kat and Steven got married alongside family and farrier friends.

As the couple is looking to build a family in a near future, Kat has decided to work full time for Beanie Tools from the beginning of 2025, administrating with Steven's dad, packing, finishing orders and managing the social medias of the company
